VOLUNTEER INFORMATION
WELCOME CENTER
Who: 7 people serving together gifted with hospitality for Welcome Areas.
What: Welcomes guests as they arrive, points to QR code for campus map, or hands out guest card, asks to complete guest book (either electronic or physical). There will be 2 people at the entrance table and then 1 at the entrance of all main areas (Light Tunnel, Kidville, The Village, Main Street, The Chapel). Welcome Hosts will have radios and will be communication liaisons.
When: Dec 9-11; 16-18. Arrive by 5:30pm. Serve from 6:30pm - 9:00pm. We ask that you are able to serve the entire time on the nights that you choose.
Where: Various Locations. All but one outside. Dress warmly for rotation.
Why: Immediately after the parking experience, you will be the next face that is seen. Loving our neighbor as ourselves... Jesus said it... that's why we will do it with excellence.
How: Welcome Area Hosts will be trained on how to perform their tasks in early December. Sign-ups will be managed by the BSF class. Listing should be sent to Rob for general communications. Hosts will also be familiar with all the other activities on Main Street so that they can answer questions and suggest activities. This training will be in early December.
If you would like to be a part of this year's Christmas at Mt. Airy, there are many places you can volunteer! Areas of service are available for both BSF classes as a group and for individuals. Scroll down to select your area(s) of interest.
THE VILLAGE
Who: 3 people assisting guests throughout The Village.
What: Village Hosts will be greet, offer refills on coffee, etc. keep the tables wiped down and will make everyone feel welcomed and loved. Village Hosts will also be trained on how to operate the snow machine and will make sure that it is powered on at the correct times.
When: Dec 9-11; 16-18. Arrive by 5:30pm. Serve from 6:30pm - 9:00pm. We ask that you are able to serve the entire time on the nights that you choose.
Where: The Village (Front of Life Center). Outside. Dress warmly.
Why: This will be an incredibly popular area. There will be a laser show three times per hour, a snow machine, Christmas Trees throughout, and re-supply of coffee and donuts. The team will need to work together to make the Village - THE VILLAGE that everyone talks about!
How: Village Hosts will be trained on how to perform their tasks in early December. Sign-ups will be managed by the BSF class. Listing should be sent to Rob for general communications. Hosts will also be familiar with all the other activities on Main Street so that they can answer questions and suggest activities. This training will be in early December.
THE VILLAGE: COFFEE & DONUT SHOPPE
Who: 4 people assisting guests at the Coffee and Donut Shoppe.
What: Coffee & Donut Hosts will be greet, brew and serve coffee and donuts, and will keep supplies refreshed.
When: Dec 9-11; 16-18. Arrive by 5:30pm. Serve from 6:30pm - 9:00pm. We ask that you are able to serve the entire time on the nights that you choose.
Where: The Village (Front of Life Center). Outside. In large trailer. Dress warmly.
Why: This will be an incredibly popular area. Hot coffee and donuts will be in high demand and this is a great way we can serve and hopefully listen to our community.
How: Village Hosts will be trained on how to perform their tasks in early December. Sign-ups will be managed by the BSF class. Listing should be sent to Rob for general communications. Hosts will also be familiar with all the other activities on Main Street so that they can answer questions and suggest activities. This training will be in early December.
AREAS ALREADY RESERVED BY A BSF CLASS
THE CHAPEL (Adams/Burdette)
Who: Minimum of 2 people assisting guests in The Chapel.
What: Chapel Hosts will be greeting those exiting the Light Tunnel. You will be there to pray with them and to counsel however the Holy Spirit leads.
When: Dec 9-11; 16-18. Arrive by 5:30pm. Serve from 6:30pm - 9:00pm. We ask that you are able to serve the entire time on the nights that you choose.
Where: Immediately after Light Tunnel in front of Life Center. Outside. Dress warmly.
Why: Guests will be surrounded by light, music, and most importantly, Scripture. Start praying now that the Holy Spirit would move.
How: Chapel Hosts will be trained on how to perform their tasks in early December. Sign-ups will be managed by the BSF class. Listing should be sent to Rob for general communications. Hosts will also be familiar with all the other activities on Main Street so that they can answer questions and suggest activities. This training will be in early December.
KIDVILLE (Merritt)
Who: 8 people assisting guests in one of the five areas within Kidville.
What: Kidville Hosts will be trained on all five areas. It will be encouraged to switch periodically to keep the workload balanced.
When: Dec 9-11; 16-18. Arrive by 5:30pm. Serve from 6:30pm - 9:00pm. We ask that you are able to serve the entire time on the nights that you choose.
Where: Kidville (Side of Life Center). Outside. Dress warmly.
Why: This will be an incredibly popular area. It is important that all guests have an incredible experience in all five areas. This will require lots of smiles, and helping with a lot of photos, while also keeping your eye out for possible safety issues.
How: Kidville Hosts will be trained on how to perform their tasks in early December. Sign-ups will be managed by the BSF class. Listing should be sent to Rob for general communications. Hosts will also be familiar with all the other activities on Main Street so that they can answer questions and suggest activities. This training will be in early December.
MAIN STREET: TOY SHOPPE
(Bagwell/Murdock/SatterwhitE)
Who: Minimum of 4 people assisting guests at the Toy Shoppe.
What: Toy Shoppe Hosts will assist guests with Christmas ornaments. There will be several designs, both finished and unfinished. Unfinished for those that want to paint at adjacent tables.
When: Dec 9-11; 16-18. Arrive by 5:30pm. Serve from 6:30pm - 9:00pm. We ask that you are able to serve the entire time on the nights that you choose.
Where: Main Street (Inside Life Center - Gym Area - Right Side - Middle Court)
Why: This is an incredibly popular area. Take the time to interact and assist however you can.
How: Toy Shoppe Hosts will be trained on how to perform their tasks in early December. Sign-ups will be managed by the BSF class. Listing should be sent to Rob for general communications. MAIN STREET: chocolate shoppe
(McDonald/Lyons)
Who: Minimum of 2 people assisting guests at the Chocolate Shoppe.
What: Chocolate Shoppe Hosts will assist guests with selecting from various chocolates and assisting with family photos (their cameras).
When: Dec 9-11; 16-18. Arrive by 5:30pm. Serve from 6:30pm - 9:00pm. We ask that you are able to serve the entire time on the nights that you choose.
Where: Main Street (Inside Life Center - Gym Area - Left Side - Middle Court)
Why: This is an incredibly popular area. Take the time to interact and assist however you can.

MAIN STREET: 1950's hot choc. & cookie bar

Who: Minimum of 5 people assisting guests in this 1950's area.
What: 1950's Hosts will assist guests with Hot Chocolate and Cookies and will interact with them at stand-up tables and throughout. The will also assist with family photos (their cameras).
When: Dec 9-11; 16-18. Arrive by 5:30pm. Serve from 6:30pm - 9:00pm. We ask that you are able to serve the entire time on the nights that you choose.
Where: Main Street (Inside Life Center - Gym Area - Left Side - In Front of Kitchen Supply Window)
Why: This is an incredibly popular area. Take the time to interact and assist however you can.

MAIN STREET: skate rink
(Wiles/Lyons)
Who: Minimum of 4 people assisting guests at the Skate Rink.
What: Large Christmas Tree will be suspended from ceiling and will be hovering 8ft. over the sock skating rink. This will be the most photographed area of the entire event. Skate Rink Hosts will help people onto skating rink, will rotate taking picture and delivering to tech team.
When: Dec 9-11; 16-18. Arrive by 5:30pm. Serve from 6:30pm - 9:00pm. We ask that you are able to serve the entire time on the nights that you choose.
Where: Main Street (Inside Life Center - Gym Area - Back Center)
Why: This is an incredibly popular area. Take the time to interact and assist however you can.
How: Skate Rink Hosts will be trained on how to perform their tasks in early December. Sign-ups will be managed by the BSF class. Listing should be sent to Rob for general communications. Hosts will also be familiar with all the other activities on Main Street so that they can answer questions and suggest activities. This training will be in early December.
INDIVIDUAL VOLUNTEERS (not in a BSF class)
PARKING & DRIVERS
LIGHT TUNNEL
Who: 1-2 people serving as technical leads / trouble-shooters
What: Responsible for powering on Light Tunnel, starting program to run show, managing sound levels, and trouble shooting.
When: Dec 9-11; 16-18. Arrive by 5:30pm. Serve from 6:30pm - 9:00pm. We ask that you are able to serve the entire time on the nights that you choose.
Where: We hope 80% in Life Center / 20% at Light Tunnel (TBD)
Why: We need technically gifted volunteers to be responsible for the entire experience. You will be involved weeks before the show goes live so that you are familiar with all key aspects of the event. The goal is to provide an exceptional experience for our guests.
How: Technical volunteers will be trained on how the Light Tunnel was constructed, how the lights tie to the various control modules, will be able to trouble-shoot lights, sound, and any software glitch with the controllers. This is the heart of the program.
Who: Minimum of 10 people: 7 parking and 3 driving golf carts.
What: Parking and drivers will be the first and last impressions of Christmas at Mt. Airy. We want to help people however we can and drive those to the starting area that need help. Drivers will be in a loop to take those exiting back to the parking area. We will have jumper cables and basic supplies available. Take the time to talk with people. Make them smile and let us know what we can do better.
When: Dec 9-11; 16-18. Arrive by 5:30pm. Serve from 6:00pm - 9:00pm. We ask that you are able to serve the entire time on the nights that you choose.
Where: Parking area and golf carts. Dress warmly.
Why: Because you have a servants heart!
How: Radios will be used to coordinate with the Welcome Area Hosts and with coordinators. The church office will coordinate volunteers.
SECURITY
Who: Minimum of 2 people.
What: Making yourselves visible by walking / driving around (if we get enough golf carts).
When: Dec 9-11; 16-18. Arrive by 5:30pm. Serve from 6:00pm - 9:00pm. We ask that you are able to serve the entire time on the nights that you choose.
Where: Throughout event.
Why: Because you have a servants heart!
How: Radios will be used to coordinate with the Welcome Area Hosts, medical staff, and coordinators. The church office will coordinate volunteers.
MEDICAL
Who: Minimum of 1 person.
What: Will be on-site and on-call for any medical assistance needed. Prefer MD's, RN's, or EMT's.
When: Dec 9-11; 16-18. Arrive by 5:30pm. Serve from 6:30pm - 9:00pm. We ask that you are able to serve the entire time on the nights that you choose.
Where: Throughout event.
Why: Because you have a servants heart!
How: Radios will be used to coordinate with the Welcome Area Hosts, medical staff, and coordinators. The church office will coordinate volunteers.
PRAYER CLOSET
Who: Minimum of 2 people.
What: Praying throughout the event.
When: Dec 9-11; 16-18. Arrive by 5:30pm. Serve from 6:30pm - 9:00pm. We ask that you are able to serve the entire time on the nights that you choose.
Where: Prayer Room or Sanctuary.
Why: Because you are a prayer warrior and know that this is the only way we will be successful in proclaiming the Name of Jesus.
How: Prayer requests will be shared by Chapel Hosts for you to pray over. Additionally, you will be praying for each area and for the Holy Spirit to move. The church office will coordinate volunteers.
KITCHEN
Who: Minimum of 2 people baking cookies and preparing hot chocolate and coffee.
What: Kitchen staff will keep in contact with the related Shoppe and will resupply as needed. Will be responsible to cleaning kitchen and notifying Rob of additional items needed.
When: Dec 9-11; 16-18. Arrive by 5:30pm. Serve from 6:00pm - 9:00pm. We ask that you are able to serve the entire time on the nights that you choose.
Where: Building A - Kitchen. Will be resupplying, so dress warmly.
Why: Because you have a servants heart!
How: Kitchen staff will be trained in early December. Church office will coordinate volunteers. Open to anyone that wants to volunteer.
