God Loves You!The Bible says, "God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life."The problem is that......all of us have done, said or thought things that are wrong. This is called sin, and our sins have separated us from God. The Bible says "All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." God is perfect and holy, and our sins separate us from God forever. The Bible says "The wages of sin is death."The good news is that......about 2,000 years ago, God sent His only Son Jesus Christ to die for our sins. Jesus is the Son of God. He lived a sinless life and then died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins. "God demonstrates His own love for us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us."Jesus rose from the dead and now He lives in heaven with God His Father. He offers us the gift of eternal life -- of living forever with Him in heaven if we accept Him as our Lord and Savior. Jesus said "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me."God reaches out in love to you and wants you to be His child. "As many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe on His name." You can choose to ask Jesus Christ to forgive your sins and come in to your life as your Lord and Savior. If you want to accept Christ as Savior and turn from your sins, you can ask Him to be your Savior and Lord by praying a prayer like this:"Lord Jesus, I believe you are the Son of God. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins. Please forgive my sins and give me the gift of eternal life. I ask you in to my life and heart to be my Lord and Savior. I want to serve you always."

Preschool MinistryThe Preschool Ministry at Mt. Airy is uniquely designed to minister to our youngest members and guests. Our greatest desire is to see all of our children grow mentally, physically, and most of all, spiritually. From infancy, to tots with toys, and finally reaching the preschool years, our children are nurtured by godly, caring servants who are dedicated to teaching these children through the nurture and admonition of God’s Word. All our caregivers have completed background checks, and are trained to only dismiss children to their parents, guardians, or caretakers using an established security system. All rooms are on the ground floor, and have been updated with age-appropriate toys and learning aids. Your child's safety and care in a loving environment is our priority.“Then Jesus took the children into His arms, placed His hands on each of them, and blessed them.” Mark 10:16Weekly ActivitiesSundayBible Study Fellowship Classes (BSF) - Ages 0 to 5Every Sunday morning at 8:30 and 9:45, we offer BSF classes for children from birth to age five. I was born in Easley, South Carolina, where I still reside. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Fine Art from Furman University, and I enjoy being able to use my art background and experience to design the many publications and marketing materials for the church. One of my favorite verses has always been Romans 12:2: "And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect."
I was born and raised in Easley, SC. and I am a graduate of Easley High School. My husband David & I have two sons, Evan and Brandon. I began working at Mt. Airy Baptist Church in 2001, first as Receptionist/Secretary and now as Financial/Senior Pastor Ministry Assistant. One of my favorite Bible verses is Psalms 121:1-2: "I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth."
I was born and raised in Sumter, South Carolina. I graduated from Lander University in May, 1985, with a degree in Elementary Education. My husband Ron and I have three children, Grant, Anna and Daniel. I have been involved in lay ministry since 1980, serving and teaching both adults and children the awesome truths of God's Holy Word. As I grow in my daily walk with Christ, I find it increasingly important to share my passion for His truth to the ones that Christ referred to as His "little ones." Establishing them in God's word is both their future and the future of the Church. My favorite verse is John 8:32: "And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."
I am a native of the beautiful Ozarks of S.W. Missouri and a graduate of Missouri Southern State University. I completed my Masters of Divinity at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, in May of 1993. My wife Amy and I have 4 beautiful girls: Leanne, Audrey, Paige, and Whitney. I came to know Christ as my Savior when I was twelve years old and my life since that time has been on a constant journey of becoming an imitator of Christ Jesus. My family has recently returned stateside from serving with the International Mission Board in Novosibirsk, Siberia, Russia. My desire for Mt. Airy Baptist Church as well as myself is Philemon 1:6, "I pray that you may be active in sharing your faith, so that you will have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ."My life verse comes from John 15:5. "I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.'
I am a native of Greenville, South Carolina and a graduate of Berea High School. I have a B.A. in Religion with an emphasis in church music degree from Charleston Southern University. My wife Angela and I have three children, Anna, Joshua, and Jaden. I have served as Minister of Worship since July, 1993 here at Mt. Airy. I have based my ministry on the verses from Ephesians 5:19-20 which reads "Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ."
I grew up in Walhalla, South Carolina, and graduated from Clemson University with a B.S. degree in Financial Management. I earned my CPA designation in 1982. My wife, Janet, and I have a son, Brad, who is married to Stephanie. We have two granddaughters, Abby and Reiss.A Bible verse that reflects my thoughts on administration is 1 Corinthians 14:40: "Let all things be done properly and in an orderly manner" (NAS).
Our VisionMatthew 28:18-20 has often been called “The Great Commission.” It clearly defines the overarching mission of the church. “Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age’.”The Great Commission outlines the mission of a healthy church: 1. We believe that Jesus is in charge, and that the Church belongs to Him. Therefore, He determines the agenda for the Church. His agenda is that we would “go and make disciples of all nations.”2. Therefore, our church exists for those who are not yet part of God’s family.3. Our task is to lead people to become fully committed followers of Jesus.4. When Jesus referred to “all nations” He was simply pointing out that the mission of the church extends to everybody everywhere. There is no ethnic boundary, and there is no national boundary. Our church must have a global scope and a heart for people who are far from God.
We Believe...I. The ScripturesThe Holy Bible was written by men divinely inspired and is God's revelation of Himself to man. It is a perfect treasure of divine instruction. It has God for its author, salvation for its end, and truth, without any mixture of error, for its matter. Therefore, all Scripture is totally true and trustworthy. It reveals the principles by which God judges us, and therefore is, and will remain to the end of the world, the true center of Christian union, and the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds, and religious opinions should be tried. All Scripture is a testimony to Christ, who is Himself the focus of divine revelation. Exodus 24:4; Deuteronomy 4:1-2; 17:19; Joshua 8:34; Psalms 19:7-10; 119:11,89,105,140; Isaiah 34:16; 40:8; Jeremiah 15:16; 36:1-32; Matthew 5:17-18; 22:29; Luke 21:33; 24:44-46; John 5:39; 16:13-15; 17:17; Acts 2:16ff.; 17:11; Romans 15:4; 16:25-26; 2 Timothy 3:15-17; Hebrews 1:1-2; 4:12; 1 Peter 1:25; 2 Peter 1:19-21.II. GodThere is one and only one living and true God. He is an intelligent, spiritual, and personal Being, the Creator, Redeemer, Preserver, and Ruler of the universe. God is infinite in holiness and all other perfections. God is all powerful and all knowing; and His perfect knowledge extends to all things, past, present, and future, including the future decisions of His free creatures. To Him we owe the highest love, reverence, and obedience. The eternal triune God reveals Himself to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, with distinct personal attributes, but without division of nature, essence, or being.A. God the FatherGod as Father reigns with providential care over His universe, His creatures, and the flow of the stream of human history according to the purposes of His grace. He is all powerful, all knowing, all loving, and all wise. God is Father in truth to those who become children of God through faith in Jesus Christ. He is fatherly in His attitude toward all men.Genesis 1:1; 2:7; Exodus 3:14; 6:2-3; 15:11ff.; 20:1ff.; Leviticus 22:2; Deuteronomy 6:4; 32:6; 1 Chronicles 29:10; Psalm 19:1-3; Isaiah 43:3,15; 64:8; Jeremiah 10:10; 17:13; Matthew 6:9ff.; 7:11; 23:9; 28:19; Mark 1:9-11; John 4:24; 5:26; 14:6-13; 17:1-8; Acts 1:7; Romans 8:14-15; 1 Corinthians 8:6; Galatians 4:6; Ephesians 4:6; Colossians 1:15; 1 Timothy 1:17; Hebrews 11:6; 12:9; 1 Peter 1:17; 1 John 5:7. B. God the SonChrist is the eternal Son of God. In His incarnation as Jesus Christ He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. Jesus perfectly revealed and did the will of God, taking upon Himself human nature with its demands and necessities and identifying Himself completely with mankind yet without sin. He honored the divine law by His personal obedience, and in His substitutionary death on the cross He made provision for the redemption of men from sin. He was raised from the dead with a glorified body and appeared to His disciples as the person who was with them before His crucifixion. He ascended into heaven and is now exalted at the right hand of God where He is the One Mediator, fully God, fully man, in whose Person is effected the reconciliation between God and man. He will return in power and glory to judge the world and to consummate His redemptive mission. He now dwells in all believers as the living and ever present Lord. God the Holy SpiritThe Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God, fully divine. He inspired holy men of old to write the Scriptures. Through illumination He enables men to understand truth. He exalts Christ. He convicts men of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment. He calls men to the Saviour, and effects regeneration. At the moment of regeneration He baptizes every believer into the Body of Christ. He cultivates Christian character, comforts believers, and bestows the spiritual gifts by which they serve God through His church. He seals the believer unto the day of final redemption. His presence in the Christian is the guarantee that God will bring the believer into the fullness of the stature of Christ. He enlightens and empowers the believer and the church in worship, evangelism, and service. ManMan is the special creation of God, made in His own image. He created them male and female as the crowning work of His creation. The gift of gender is thus part of the goodness of God's creation. In the beginning man was innocent of sin and was endowed by his Creator with freedom of choice. By his free choice man sinned against God and brought sin into the human race. Through the temptation of Satan man transgressed the command of God, and fell from his original innocence whereby his posterity inherit a nature and an environment inclined toward sin. Therefore, as soon as they are capable of moral action, they become transgressors and are under condemnation. Only the grace of God can bring man into His holy fellowship and enable man to fulfill the creative purpose of God. The sacredness of human personality is evident in that God created man in His own image, and in that Christ died for man; therefore, every person of every race possesses full dignity and is worthy of respect and Christian love.Genesis 1:26-30; 2:5,7,18-22; 3; 9:6; Psalms 1; 8:3-6; 32:1-5; 51:5; Isaiah 6:5; Jeremiah 17:5; Matthew 16:26; Acts 17:26-31; Romans 1:19-32; 3:10-18,23; 5:6,12,19; 6:6; 7:14-25; 8:14-18,29; 1 Corinthians 1:21-31; 15:19,21-22; Ephesians 2:1-22; Colossians 1:21-22; 3:9-11.IV. SalvationSalvation involves the redemption of the whole man, and is offered freely to all who accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, who by His own blood obtained eternal redemption for the believer. In its broadest sense salvation includes regeneration, justification, sanctification, and glorification. There is no salvation apart from personal faith in Jesus Christ as Lord.A. Regeneration, or the new birth, is a work of God's grace whereby believers become new creatures in Christ Jesus. It is a change of heart wrought by the Holy Spirit through conviction of sin, to which the sinner responds in repentance toward God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Repentance and faith are inseparable experiences of grace. Repentance is a genuine turning from sin toward God. Faith is the acceptance of Jesus Christ and commitment of the entire personality to Him as Lord and Saviour.B. Justification is God's gracious and full acquittal upon principles of His righteousness of all sinners who repent and believe in Christ. Justification brings the believer unto a relationship of peace and favor with God. C. Sanctification is the experience, beginning in regeneration, by which the believer is set apart to God's purposes, and is enabled to progress toward moral and spiritual maturity through the presence and power of the Holy Spirit dwelling in him. Growth in grace should continue throughout the regenerate person's life.D. Glorification is the culmination of salvation and is the final blessed and abiding state of the redeemed. God's Purpose of GraceElection is the gracious purpose of God, according to which He regenerates, justifies, sanctifies, and glorifies sinners. It is consistent with the free agency of man, and comprehends all the means in connection with the end. It is the glorious display of God's sovereign goodness, and is infinitely wise, holy, and unchangeable. It excludes boasting and promotes humility. All true believers endure to the end. Those whom God has accepted in Christ, and sanctified by His Spirit, will never fall away from the state of grace, but shall persevere to the end. Believers may fall into sin through neglect and temptation, whereby they grieve the Spirit, impair their graces and comforts, and bring reproach on the cause of Christ and temporal judgments on themselves; yet they shall be kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation. The ChurchA New Testament church of the Lord Jesus Christ is an autonomous local congregation of baptized believers, associated by covenant in the faith and fellowship of the gospel; observing the two ordinances of Christ, governed by His laws, exercising the gifts, rights, and privileges invested in them by His Word, and seeking to extend the gospel to the ends of the earth. Each congregation operates under the Lordship of Christ through democratic processes. In such a congregation each member is responsible and accountable to Christ as Lord. Its scriptural officers are pastors and deacons. While both men and women are gifted for service in the church, the office of pastor is limited to men as qualified by Scripture. The New Testament speaks also of the church as the Body of Christ which includes all of the redeemed of all the ages, believers from every tribe, and tongue, and people, and nation. Baptism and the Lord's SupperChristian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It is an act of obedience symbolizing the believer's faith in a crucified, buried, and risen Saviour, the believer's death to sin, the burial of the old life, and the resurrection to walk in newness of life in Christ Jesus. It is a testimony to his faith in the final resurrection of the dead. Being a church ordinance, it is prerequisite to the privileges of church membership and to the Lord's Supper. The Lord's Supper is a symbolic act of obedience whereby members of the church, through partaking of the bread and the fruit of the vine, memorialize the death of the Redeemer and anticipate His second coming.Matthew 3:13-17; 26:26-30; 28:19-20; Mark 1:9-11; 14:22-26; Luke 3:21-22; 22:19-20; John 3:23; Acts 2:41-42; 8:35-39; 16:30-33; 20:7; Romans 6:3-5; 1 Corinthians 10:16,21; 11:23-29; Colossians 2:12.

He cultivates Christian character, comforts believers, and bestows the spiritual gifts by which they serve God through His church. He seals the believer unto the day of final redemption.
I was born and raised in Greenville, South Carolina. I am married to Jennifer and we have a daughter named Hallie and a son named Jackson. I graduated from North Greenville University with a B.A. in Religion in May, 2000. "However, I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only Imay finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesushas given me—the task of testifying to thegospel of God's grace." Acts 20:24
I was born in Anderson, South Carolina, but our family moved to Johnson City, Tennessee when I was only six weeks old, and I consider that "home." God has blessed me with a wonderful wife named Lisa, and three children - Kelly, Lauren and Jonathan. I graduated with a B.A. in Religion from Carson Newman College in Jefferson City, Tennessee. I obtained a Master of Divinity Degree in Theology from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, in Ft. Worth, Texas. In 1996, I graduated from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary with a Doctor of Ministry degree."Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not onyour own understanding. In all your ways acknowledgeHim and He will direct your path." Proverbs 3:5-6

Our BeliefsMt. Airy Baptist Church is associated with the Southern Baptist Convention. The SBC is a group of churches that pool their resources to fund and support the ongoing work of the Gospel. This is a brief summary of our primary beliefs:One GodThere is one God: The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit; who subsist in unity, and also as three separate distinct Persons.Jesus Christ Is God’s SonJesus Christ is God's Son. He was born of a virgin as both God and man, lived a sinless life, died to atone for the sins of human beings, was buried, arose from the grave, ascended into heaven, and will literally return to earth. The Holy SpiritThe Holy Spirit is the divine helper, assistant, counselor and instructor and His work is to reveal Christ, convict of sin, lead to repentance, guide believers, comfort, strengthen, and sanctify the soul. The BibleThe Bible is God’s Holy Word, without error, and is the sole authority for life.Created Man’s Need for GodHuman beings are the special creations of God, made in His image. They fell through the sin of the first man, Adam, and all human beings are sinners in need of salvation.SalvationSalvation is a gift through repentance toward God and faith in Jesus Christ. Every person who truly is saved is eternally secure in the Lord Jesus Christ and will spend eternity in heaven, while those who die in their sins will spend eternity in hell.BaptismBaptism is by immersion after salvation and is done in obedience to Jesus Christ’s command.Believer’s Access to GodEach believer has direct access to God through the Lord Jesus Christ. The ChurchThe church is a local body of baptized believers with the Lord Jesus Christ as the Head. For more information, read

Music Ministry The Music and Worship Ministry of Mt. Airy Baptist Church is dedicated to exalting the Savior, edifying the saints, evangelizing the lost, and making His praise glorious in all the music presented each week. Our tool is music, our focus is Jesus, and our reason is eternity. The Word of God makes it very clear that "God inhabits the praise of His people!" Our desire is to create an atmosphere where God's presence is alive and life-changing. He is our audience … our audience of One. On Sunday mornings we have three services with three different styles of music. Our 9:45 includes more traditional hymns, our 11:00 service in the sanctuary incorporates more of a blended style worship and our 11:00 service in the Life Center features a live band. If you are interested in using your talents to serve God through music and worship, we have just the place for you. You will find open arms and a sweet time of fellowship within our various groups. Whatever your walk of life, no matter your level of skill, we have a place for you. Join us as we make "His Praise Glorious." Children's MinistryAt Mt. Airy Baptist Church, our children’s ministry is dedicated to guiding elementary aged children into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. During these formative years, we offer many programs for children to hear God’s Word taught in a real and meaningful way, adhering to the whole counsel of God’s Word. We are also dedicated to following Christ’s example in the way He loved and nurtured children by providing fun and fellowship opportunities throughout the year. All volunteers undergo a national background check before serving in our children’s ministry.“And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free.” John 8:32Weekly Activities SundaysBible Study Fellowship Classes (BSF) - Grades 1- 4Every Sunday morning at 8:30 and 9:45, we offer BSF classes for all ages. Kids enjoy music, games, and great Bible lessons each week!
